Here is my current treo 700wx phone, pda, gps, mp3 playing setup with dc charger & audio cord

This is my original cb setup, a midland handheld with the cig lighter adapter and perm mount antenna. I liked this unit since I could pull it out easily and carry it around should I get stranded.

Ok so now you want to know how it is stuck to the dash. Well this section is not for the faint at heart….I used a standard cb mount and cut notches around the lower round indicator and it holds up great after many very rough trails.

However I found that the midland just didn’t work as well as I had wanted….that & I found a blue cobra and well I am secure enough in my masculinity to have a cool blue cb! See 1st photo…and yeah it is 104 degrees outside…not after hours in the sun or anything..just standard issue spring in Phoenix.

Here is my ham setup, I am new to all this so don’t except me to rattle off all the spec’s and such.

They antenna is a comet dual band with a lip mount that I really like. The whole setup is flexible and trail hardy.

I found that with a little super glue I could route the cable down & around inside along with window rubber and into the rear door panel through the window support hole.

With a little lube and luck you can run wire through the stock loom here and into the cabin.

After this I just reached into the space that holds the jack & tools and the cable fed up to the front by itself. I did remove the floor door step part and the loom had a spot on the side perfect for the cable.

Lastly I removed the kick panel and vent panel and with a little x acto knife work my mini cable adapter to my Yaesu VX-6R with remote speaker/mic hooked up great. So far this velco is strong enough for the trail but lets me remove my radio for backpacking or playing with my sons Cub Scouts (my 9yr old is next for his ham tech lic!)

Final thoughts….I will more than likely replace the factory radio with a single DIN unit and but the Yaesu 8900 quad band under it so that I will have a more powerful mobile rig and a handheld for backpacking/playing/son…but for now this works great and the antenna install with be good for the future I hope.

All  comments & thoughts welcome.
